Author Biographies

Johan P. Velema, International Health & Development

Johan Velema is an epidemiologist with an MSc from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and a PhD from the Erasmus University Rotterdam. His interest is in quantitative and qualitative research methods. His experience is in the evaluation of health programmes. While evaluating  programmes targeting persons affected by leprosy and persons with disability, he developed a keen interest in Community Based Rehabilitation and Inclusive Development.

Huib Cornielje, Enablement Ltd.

Huib Cornielje was trained as a physiotherapist. From 1984 to 1993 he worked in various rehabilitation programmes in South Africa. He holds an MSc degree from the University of Witwatersrand and a Higher Diploma in Adult Education from the same university in Johannesburg. He obtained an MPH at the Netherlands School for Public Health in 1996. Since 1999, Huib is Director of Enablement.
